The News in Sports

August has been an active month so far for us Cerseys. On the 2nd it was "Mormon Night with the Braves". Strange, I know. I bet Turner Field sold less alcohol that night than any other night in the season. Anyway, it turned out that Nicole's parents bought tickets that they didn't end up needing. So, since it was on a Monday which is traditionally Girls' Night Nicole took as girls to the game! The seats were awesome. We were 14 rows behind home plate on the third base line. We were playing the Mets, who are a big rival of ours. Chipper hit a home run and I got a picture of him swinging for the hit and crossing home plate. Nicole kept disappearing. She brought baby Avery with her and Avery wasn't a fan of the noise. So, Nicole made a few trips to the box that her parent's were hanging out in. You know, the boxes with free food and comfy seats? Yeah, no wonder she kept abandoning us. Long story short, we won! Best Braves game ever! Thanks Nicole and Mom and Pops Christensen!

On the 4th the boys went to their first Primary activity. They played kickball, Bingo, duck-duck goose, and then threw water balloons at Bro. Troxell. Jackson had fun running around with Jones, but Drake wasn't all that enthused about the activity. It turned out that he got a fever later that day, so he wasn't feeling so hot. The sunglasses seemed to help a little though.
Back on the 1st daddy signed Jackson up for T-ball!
Jackson had "tryouts" on the 7th, which actually is just how they pick which team they are going to put you on. They don't actually turn anyone away. We showed up right on time and there was a line that was already forever long. Jones showed up too, so Jackson wasn't as bored with waiting as he would have otherwise been. When it was finally his turn they had him hit a ball off the Tee (he managed this), then attempt to hit a pitch (not so much). They had him run to first where they threw him some balls to catch (again, not so much). Then they rolled him some grounders and asked him to throw them back to home (he is 4 remember). He tried his hardest and I think he had fun, which is what matters, right?
The next day we got a call from his new coach. Jackson was drafted to the Ga Tech team. Yes, he was so impressive that he is going straight to college ball. Yeah, actually the T-ball team name is just Ga Tech. Odd much? I've decided that when I become a T-ball coach I am going to name my team Brigham Young University. I think that will go over well here in the deep south. Anyway, the best part about Jackson's new team is that his good friend Jones ended up on the same team! What are the odds? Maybe they are high, I don't really know, but we are all excited about it. GO GA TECH! (Why does that feel so wrong?) Drake really loves sports too and I think he might be feeling a little left out. He likes to wear/carry sporting equipment around the house.
On the afternoon of the 7th we went to Maggie's 2nd birthday party. It was at the Wood's neighborhood pool (this sticks with the sports theme because there was swimming involved). As you can see the cupcakes were quite enjoyable.
Where is Jackson in all these pictures, you might ask? Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later with all these activities going on. Jackson fell while running laps around the pool (highly inadvisable) and scratched his ankle. By the looks of his face you would think he was dying.
Poor Jackson. It looks quite sad, but at the time it was kind of humorous. I must be a terrible mom, but it really wasn't all that bad of a scratch, not even picture worthy. He hobbled around for a few days before he was willing to admit that it was getting better. Oh the joys of being 4!

The End of July

Justin had this last week off of work because he is about to lose his vacation days if he doesn't use them. We decided to just chill this week and do a whole lot of nothing. We have been trying to take advantage of our pool this Summer since we have to pay so much to keep it open. On Friday we had some friends and family join us there for some fun in the sun. Here are the baby swimmers.

Notice Ryan's white swim shorts. Its okay to laugh a little.

We also spent some time this last week over at Justin's parents' house because his mom and Andy both just had knee surgery and are there recovering together. We hope they get better soon! They have been sitting in this chair for over a week now. Justin tried to entertain everyone with his crocheting skills, but it turns out that watching someone crochet is really boring.

At church yesterday I was released as 2nd Counselor in the YW presidency because my mom (the YW Pres.) was released and her counselors are released by default. I was kind of upset because I hadn't been in that calling for very long (since last November) and I was just starting to feel like I understood my job. They called a new YW President, and lo and behold I was called back as the 2nd counselor. I am very excited that I don't have to leave the young women just yet. Jess is still the 1st counselor too, so there is fun still to come! My mom was released because my dad just got called to be the Branch President of a Spanish Branch in our stake and she has to join him there. Its pretty crazy, but I know they will do a great job.
