Drake

Here are some more pictures of our new little guy. He sleeps 20 hours a day and the other 4 hours he eats, poops, and vomits. We are pretty much adjusted to our new schedule which includes feedings every 3 hours and diaper changes about every 2 hours. Jackson has been spending a lot of time at Grandma Cersey's house this week so that Mom and Dad can get some rest during the day to make up for the sleep lost at night. I don't know what I am going to do when Justin goes back to work next Wednesday. Anyway, here are some more pictures.

Introducing...

I know that it has been almost a week since my last post and some of you are a little anxious to know what we named our little guy and if we made it home from the hospital. Sorry for the delay, but there is just so much to do when you have a new baby in the house. Well, we tried to get out of the hospital on Thursday, but there were too many hang ups so we didn't leave until Friday afternoon. And now what you really want to know... we named him Drake Davin Cersey. This name had been at the top of both mine and Justin's lists, and pretty much the only name our lists had in common, so we went with it. Jackson is really good with Drake. He likes to hold him and give him kisses, but he is a little impatient and ornery with mom and dad because he is not the center of attention anymore. He has been getting a lot of attention from his Grandmas and cousins though. It is so great having family so close by. Well, doody calls. More pics and info to come.

He Has Arrived!!!

I went in to the hospital at 8:30 am yesterday morning and they started me on Pitocin at 9:00 am. My contractions gradually got stronger over the next several hours and at about noon I opted for the Epidural. It turned out that my doctor was unexpectedly detained in a surgery all day, so we didn't even see him until 5:15 in the afternoon which is when he broke my water. After that things began to move really quickly, but I had to wait for my doctor again while he did a Cesarean on another patient. My doctor came back in around 7:20 and after only 8 rounds of pushing our little man arrived at 7:41 pm. He is 7 lbs. 2 oz. and 19.5 inches long. No, we have not chosen a name yet, but we will before we leave the hospital. Next post will have more pictures and a name to go with the face.

Here I am happy to be rid of the pain after my epidural.
Here is Justin with our new baby who is swollen from all the squeezing and pushing.

A Shower and Callaway

I wasn't expecting a baby shower for this baby because I honestly didn't need one. I already have everything that I need because I had a boy almost this exact same time two years ago. But my VT and friend, Betsy Baugh insisted on doing something, so I gave in and allowed the simplest of showers. I only wanted a few people there and we went to a really casual restaurant. I also requested no gifts, but if someone was determined to bring one the only thing I wanted was Pampers diapers and/or wipes. As you can see some people didn't follow my instructions, but I am very grateful that I have close friends and family that insist on doing nice things for me and my family. Thanks everyone for the perfect small shower. Last weekend we went down to Callaway Gardens just south of Atlanta for my Dad's annual Hinman Dental retreat. It was nice to get away for a couple of days with the family. Besides us and my parents, James and Darron joined us as well. The main reason we love to go to this event each year is the awesome Bingo game that is played the first night. They give away some sweet prizes. I risked going into labor 3 hours away from my doctor to play this game. It just so happened that I won a $100 gift card to the Buckhead Life Restaurants, a box of Lindt chocolates, and a bottle of wine which I declined. Jackson won a remote control helicopter too. A woman at our table won a Wii, which Justin was upset about because he was the one to pass her the winning card originally. It was a good time and well worth the risk.

Another Haircut

My cousin Erik was kind enough to give me another haircut before the baby comes since I probably won't have much time to do it after the baby arrives. He wanted to keep things simple so that there wouldn't be too much maintenance for me, but I talked him in to spicing things up with some sweet bangs! He is awesome!

Justin & Jackson's Birthday Party

We had a birthday party for both Justin and Jackson on Saturday, May 31st. Jackson turned 2 on May 27th and Justin turned the big 30 on May 31st. The party started out at our awesome neighborhood pool and then we moved everyone down the street to our house for pizza, cupcakes, and presents. A lot of good pictures were taken so I am going to post them all on a separate web page. Watch for the link on the right side of our blog. Dad and Jackson having fun in the pool. The water was a little cold, but not bad enough to slow them down. Dad decided to smash Jackson's cupcake all over his face. Anyone else find this reminiscent of our wedding day? Here is a picture that was long overdue. We finally got some extended family on my side back together for the first time in many years. It is so great to have them back in our lives!
